We believe that bicycle riding and repair can provide a conduit through which to teach valuable life lessons such as teamwork, perseverance, problem solving, and leadership.
Our vision is that all Bellingham youth are able to partake in bicycle riding and to become empowered through learning to care for their bikes and through learning skills for riding safely on roads.
Sterling Bike Works opened its doors in May of 2013 and began offering bicycles, parts, education, and repair to neighborhood kids. Now that we have developed our program and built up our resource base, we would like to share these resources with the broader Bellingham community. Please note, however, that the purpose of the shop is to serve primarily families and children living with lower incomes and fewer resources. Because we do not income screen, we request that people are self-selective.
We are always searching for donations of bicycles, parts, and tools in order to keep the shop stocked. We also gladly accept cash donations to support shop functions. If you have something to donate, please contact us!
